After the home victory against Catanzaro, John Yeboah looks ahead to the upcoming away match against Mantova, focusing on his teammates’ current form and the expectations for Saturday’s game.
John Yeboah, Venezia FC forward
“We’re in a good run of form and we’re very happy about that, but everything is still wide open. We want to keep going like this until the end of the season, game by game, always training at maximum intensity. Personally, I feel good; I want to keep pushing and help the team with my qualities. The most important thing right now is to think about the team and continue on this path, enjoying ourselves and giving the fans something to enjoy as well.
At the end of the season, I hope to earn a place in the squad to play in the World Cup, but at the moment I’m not focused on that because I have a major goal with Venezia. It will certainly be exciting to play against Germany; it’s a country that has given me many opportunities both in football and in life, but my heart and soul obviously belong to Ecuador. I’m ready to give everything for the national team, but right now my mind is completely focused on Venezia.
Compared to the start of the season, we’ve found more consistency, also thanks to the return of important players for the dressing room. Now we’re in a good period of form. I feel increasingly important within the team’s technical project, and all my teammates are hungry and focused on reaching our objective.
This is perhaps the first time in my career that I’ve played alongside teammates who really know each other so well. We’re almost in symbiosis and we’re able to play high-quality football. In this context, I can truly shine and show all my potential. I’m happy to be able to fully show my qualities, and I’m confident I can do even more. Everyone at the club makes me feel important; I’m happy to be here and to be part of an ambitious project.
I have a great understanding with all the attacking players—Adorante, Fila, Casas. Thanks to our qualities, we’re all capable of changing the outcome of any match. Taking turns on penalties with Adorante? It depends on the moment in the game. We both feel important, and whoever feels more ready takes it. This shows how united the team is and how much we want every single player to feel fundamental.”
