As the away match in Chiavari approaches, Venezia FC is preparing for the challenge against Virtus Entella, scheduled for Saturday, April 11 at 3:00 PM at the “Enrico Sannazzari” Municipal Stadium.
This morning, Venezia’s arancioneroverde defender Joel Schingtienne spoke to the press, taking stock of both his personal condition and that of the team.



“We are in the best possible position at the moment. We must continue on this path, maintaining a positive attitude.
It is essential to focus on one match at a time: everything depends on us. The league is very balanced, with teams close together in the standings, so there are no easier or more difficult opponents.

For me, the most important thing is to play: the more you take the field, the more you improve. Ours is a proactive style of football, in which defenders are also heavily involved, and this satisfies me both personally and as part of the team.
The first half against Juve Stabia was complicated: they were very dangerous on the counterattack. Our goal was to go into halftime ahead, and we managed to do that, so we could continue our game plan in the second half.

I get along very well with my defensive teammates Sverko and Svoboda: day by day we improve our understanding, and it’s a pleasure to play alongside them.

I am very happy to have reached fifty appearances in the arancioneroverde shirt. This season I have had consistency and, fortunately, no physical problems. I think I have improved in building the attacking phase and in duels, although I know I still need to improve in using my weaker foot.

My first match at San Siro was not easy: facing Milan in Milan is always challenging. The start was not easy, but since arriving in Italy I have grown. If we were to return to Serie A, I would certainly feel more prepared. Italian defensive football is very different from Belgian football, so I had to adapt and understand new tactical aspects.

At the start of the season we encountered some difficulties. We needed to get to know each other better and understand coach Stroppa’s demands, with whom I get along very well. After some complicated matches in which we failed to get results away from home, we managed to unlock things with a win, and from there we found consistency.

Every player dreams of the senior national team, and for me it would also be a great goal. But right now I am completely focused on Venezia; in the future, however, I would really like to have that opportunity.”

Today, in the first twenty minutes, we did fairly well but we could have done better. We played some predictable long balls that we could have handled with more precision. Then we got the game onto the right track. The goal we conceded came from a technical misunderstanding, but we did very well to believe in ourselves and quickly find the 2–1. The second half was one-sided—we had many chances to score and extend the lead further. Today Juve Stabia, unlike on other occasions, didn’t press us high but waited in their own half, looking to play long balls on the counter. When an opponent plays like that, keeping things simple is best: you need to control the game in the opponent’s half without exposing yourself too much, with patience and focus. The standings? They don’t mean anything yet. We keep thinking one match at a time, staying focused—the final verdict will come at the end

Today there was a lot of emotion. I spent two wonderful years at Juve Stabia, but my mind was completely focused on the match. I’m happy with the three points—we had one objective today, and despite a slow start, we loosened up and got the result. Scoring twice today makes me happy. I was coming off a period where I wasn’t at 100% physically, but now I’ve recovered, and scoring is definitely a great satisfaction

After the break due to international fixtures, Venezia FC is preparing to resume its journey in Serie BKT. The next match is scheduled for Monday, April 6 at 3:00 PM at the Pier Luigi Penzo Stadium against Juve Stabia. Coach Stroppa previews the game, focusing on the team’s current form.

At this stage of the season, it’s really important to maintain what we’ve achieved so far. The ultimate goal is to win as many matches as possible from now until the end of the championship. We used these two weeks without matches to rest both mentally and physically, and to improve the quality of our training sessions.

The players who were involved with their national teams have returned with great energy. I hope this positive boost can add to the energy that already exists within the dressing room.

On Monday, Juve Stabia will be highly motivated as they are facing the league leaders. It’s a team that is very similar to us in terms of ideas, understanding, and style of play. The Campanian side is a joy to watch, they’re having an important season, and my compliments certainly go to coach Abate.

Looking back at the first-leg match, some concepts were not yet fully established within the team. The improvement in performance that followed is the result of mistakes we made, from which we were able to draw clear lessons. This team is achieving important numbers, delivering positive performances, and I am truly satisfied with all my players.

Everyone is making my selection decisions difficult. At the moment, I have the entire squad available and everyone is in good shape. It’s a kind of difficulty I would like to carry with me until the end. Mentally, the players are ready. I have quality players who allow me to feel confident in my choices, and that goes beyond results. Watching how these players train every day is an extraordinary satisfaction for me.
