The twelfth matchday of Serie BKT is approaching, with Venezia FC set to host Sampdoria on the evening of Saturday, November 8th at 7:30 p.m. at the Pier Luigi Penzo Stadium. The arancioneroverde forward John Yeboah — who has so far scored 3 goals and provided 2 assists in the league — previewed the match and shared his thoughts on the team’s current condition.
John Yeboah, Venezia FC forward:
"Against Catanzaro, I don’t think we played a bad game. Of course, we made some mistakes that affected the result. What matters now is learning from those mistakes — that’s part of football. As the coach always says, we’re a good team and we need to bounce back and focus on the next match.
Personally, I’m in a good moment of form. I’m still trying to find the best version of myself, and I know I can give even more to the team, starting with the next game against Sampdoria. On Saturday, we have to be hungry for victory — we’re playing at home and we need to give everything. My teammates and I will fight until the very end to try to get the best result possible.
I know my qualities; I know I can do even better. So far, I’ve scored 3 goals in the league, but I know I can contribute more with goals, assists, and better decisions. I have to keep working hard in training and put my skills at the service of the team.
Right now we are where we are in the standings, but I’m convinced we have what it takes to climb back up. Every team wants to be at the top, but just like in life, there can be difficult moments. We have a strong squad and we’re capable of making up the points gap. Serie B isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon. It’s still November, and we just need to keep putting in the kind of performances we’ve been showing, focusing on one match at a time.
Last season in Serie A, we had a more cautious approach, while this year in Serie B we’re trying to dominate the game. Our opponents recognize that and tend to sit back, crowding their defense and closing down spaces to keep us from scoring. I really like this style of play because it suits my characteristics well.
We’re a team that has controlled matches so far, as shown by our attacking and defensive stats. But, as in life, sometimes you don’t know why you fall into difficult moments — what matters is having the strength to get back up. I’m sure Venezia has that strength; we just have to keep working the way we are.”
