The press conference of Giovanni Stroppa

October 28, 2025

For the tenth matchday of Serie BKT, Venezia FC faces Südtirol at home at the Pier Luigi Penzo Stadium. On the eve of the match, scheduled for Wednesday, October 29 at 8:30 PM, coach Stroppa introduces the main themes of the game, focusing on the team’s current form and the tactical characteristics of the side from Alto Adige.

Giovanni Stroppa, Venezia FC head coach
Tomorrow evening, like all matches in this league, will be a tough one: Südtirol is a team with strong character, physical, strong in duels, and very vertical. We will need to work and take the necessary countermeasures to face them in the best way. These three matches we play this week still allow us to recover well because they are three days apart from each other; tomorrow evening I will understand whether to confirm or not the lineup from last Saturday.

I look at the standings, and I would like to be a few positions higher because I believe we deserve it, but at the same time you could say that we deserve this position because we make too many mistakes. The reckoning is done at the end of the season. The team is in good shape, creates a lot, and must continue to deliver the performances we’ve shown so far. What we need to do now is put our heads down and work even harder, because what we’ve done so far is not enough and there are some aspects we need to improve.

In the last match in Carrara we conceded avoidable goals, which we definitely need to work on with more attention. The last two goals conceded at the Stadio dei Marmi were quite similar: they started from a ball lost in attack and ended up with us conceding despite having a numerical advantage. We need to be able to use more experience and cleverness to manage the play better, perhaps stopping it before it develops — matches are also won that way.

Of course it bothers me to have lost, but my mindset remains positive. I coach a strong team that can hurt the opponent at any moment. What is this team missing? Goals. I don’t know if it’s a matter of quality or ruthlessness in front of goal; we must persevere with our style of play, perhaps creating even more to make the most of all the chances we get during a match.

Südtirol was my first experience as a professional; it’s an extraordinary environment for football and the club has grown enormously. It will certainly be a pleasure to meet again.”
