The press conference of Giovanni Stroppa

March 6, 2026

Second consecutive home match for Venezia FC, who tomorrow, Saturday, March 7, will face Reggiana at the Pier Luigi Penzo Stadium in the 29th round of Serie BKT. On the eve of the match, head coach Giovanni Stroppa discussed the key themes of the game and provided an update on his team’s physical condition.

Giovanni Stroppa, Venezia FC head coach:
I’m satisfied with the response the players gave me on Tuesday against Avellino. We managed our energy well and those who played delivered very good performances.

A few weeks ago, during the first midweek fixture, we already had only two days of rest between matches. Of course, I would have preferred to have one more day to recover, but with this schedule we have to make the best of the situation. That’s the way it is, and I’ll rely on the depth of the squad for the upcoming matches that are close together.

Dagasso? He has quality and his style of play fits well with the way the team interprets the game. Everyone deserves the chance to be on the pitch and everyone must give me that kind of selection dilemma. The more doubts I have when choosing the starting eleven, the better it is for me. As I’ve said many times, the difference in this team is made by those players pushing from behind who want to challenge the ones currently ahead of them in the hierarchy.

Reggiana are a difficult team to face. They have unpredictable players up front, they’re fast, they know how to attack vertically and they have good ball players in midfield. We must be good at making the most of every opportunity: we create a lot but, compared to what we produce, we take home too little. We need to be even more clinical in the final eleven meters.

Right now, results are a consequence of performances, but the real reckoning will come in May. I’m in love with this team and it’s wonderful to watch them play. Having a five-point advantage over the direct promotion rivals doesn’t change anything; we are focused on our objective, and mentality makes the difference, especially now. We’ll continue to take it game by game, trying to perform well against every opponent.

There are some players in this dressing room, like Casas and Lella, who bring such energy in training and on match day that it spreads to their teammates. They, along with others who show the same energy, are essential for the solidity of the group.”
