On the eve of the match against Monza, Coach Stroppa presents the game to the media, focusing on the current form of the orange-black-green team and analyzing the opponent. Kick-off is scheduled for Saturday, December 13, at 3:00 PM at the Pier Luigi Penzo Stadium.
Giovanni Stroppa, Venezia FC coach:
“Looking back at the match in Avellino, we need to stay even more focused and keep going like this. We've played games like the one at Partenio this season; it was a snapshot of this championship. Of course, we need to improve in certain aspects, but the performance was positive and we need to maintain continuity in our game.
The team is in good shape, feeling well, and has room to grow. We must be able to bring home points, because if you don’t win, very little remains of the beauty you show on the pitch. Conversely, if you win, the beauty of the game is enhanced.
Tomorrow we face a very strong team; it’s always exciting to play these types of matches. Every time Monza has the ball, anything can happen. They are skilled in counterattacks, have quality players like us, and have a very clear identity in their play. I congratulate Coach Bianco not only for the impressive football he is showcasing on the pitch, but especially because he has restored motivation and brought the environment back together, players included.
At Monza, I had my first experience as a professional player. We won the championship and the Serie C Italian Cup. In Brianza, as a coach, I wrote important pages by achieving the club’s first historic promotion to Serie A. Wearing the red-and-white, I have many memories both as a player and as a coach.
At the moment, it’s difficult to impact the team; I hope that substitutions will have a greater influence during matches because the team needs to be able to change pace more effectively when making changes. To play for Venezia and raise the bar, the difference is always made by the players who are not in the starting eleven—they must push and have the chance to overturn the current hierarchies. It is in these circumstances that the quality of the entire squad rises. So far, I am very satisfied because I coach an extraordinary group of players who give their all in every single training session.”
