On the eve of Matchday 15 of the Serie BKT championship, which will see Venezia face Avellino on Monday, December 8 at 3:00 PM at the Stadio Partenio, coach Stroppa analyzes the form of his team and introduces the key themes of the match.
Giovanni Stroppa, Venezia FC Head Coach
"The match at San Siro didn’t leave any 'aftereffects,' we are absolutely focused on the league, and I must say that the team has worked very well again this week.
From my team, I expect the usual performance, but then there’s the opponent: it will be a tough game. Avellino won in Bolzano, which is not an easy place to earn points, and they’ve always done well at home. They have an extraordinary crowd, and it will be a match to be wary of.
They’re a team that plays good football, they know how to attack vertically, and they’re dangerous on set pieces. So, we need to have the right approach and the 'right kind of grit' to win the duels and turn the game in our favor.
I still have some doubts about the lineup. We’re thinking one match at a time, because in this league you have to aim for consistency. So, I hope we can bring home some points to extend our positive run of results. We've worked for that.
There’s still a lot to improve, but the performances have always been there since the beginning of the season. The only blemish was in Castellammare, but we were down to ten men and dealing with all the adversity of the situation. The team has a strong identity, it’s constantly improving, and we’ve always performed.
Certainly, performances are the driving force behind earning points—then, within those performances, come the decisive moments."
