Ahead of matchday 37 of the 2024/25 Serie A Enilive season, which will see Venezia FC face Cagliari at the Unipol Domus on Sunday at 20:45, arancioneroverde head coach Eusebio Di Francesco analyzed his team's current form and their upcoming opponent.
Eusebio Di Francesco
"First of all, I want to send my best wishes to Conde. We hope he can recover as soon as possible: he was really unlucky to suffer an injury just a few minutes after coming onto the pitch. It's a real shame because he was an important asset for us in this final stretch of the season.
The win against Fiorentina gave us confidence, but we absolutely must not let it turn into arrogance. It was a hard-fought victory, but it’s not enough—we now want and need to stay in this division.
I’m not looking at the standings and I’m not interested in them right now. After Monday’s match, we immediately focused on tomorrow’s clash with Cagliari: our attention is fully there.
The match against Cagliari will be very important and we want to bring home a positive result, but we know we’ll be facing a tough atmosphere and a determined team. Now is the time to maintain consistency both in our performances and our results, at the end of a season where we’ve managed to turn things around.
I know their players’ characteristics well: they have a physical, dynamic squad, capable of quickly transitioning into attack. Piccoli, in particular, is a striker who has improved a lot and is a major threat. It will be a tough match, a real battle, but we want to defend the position we’ve earned with so much effort. Tomorrow we want to put in a great performance, showing the compactness, balance, and mentality that have allowed us to become the team we are today."
