After the away victory against Reggiana and three days before the home match against Catanzaro, Frenchman Antoine Hainaut focuses on the team’s current form and previews the key themes of the clash against the Calabrian side, scheduled for Saturday, January 17 at 3:00 pm at the Penzo Stadium.
Antoine Hainaut, Venezia FC midfielder.
“The win in Reggio Emilia earned us three very important points. When we found ourselves playing ten against eleven, we put in a great performance, staying compact and united. Second place in the standings now gives us confidence for the upcoming matches. We are approaching the championship one game at a time: since the first-leg match against Catanzaro, we’ve worked on our mistakes and from there we’ve managed to put together a good positive run.
When I arrived in Venice, my goal was to play, get minutes in my legs, and keep improving; I feel very good here, I feel the trust of the coach and the club, and I want to continue like this.
I like to always be smiling off the pitch and to face every situation positively, then on the field I’m always focused and eager to keep improving. At the moment I feel very good. In the past I already achieved promotion from Serie B to Serie A with Parma; winning this league is always difficult. We all need to believe together in the club’s project and give our best.
Coach Stroppa always asks us to work hard and to grow together as a team. If I had to think concretely about improvements, we can certainly be more ruthless in front of goal and also refine some defensive situations.
When we play at home, it’s wonderful to hear the voices of our fans. Not only at the Penzo, but also away from home they are always by our side, and for that I thank them very much. Feeling their support gives us players a lot of strength.
Catanzaro are a strong team; every match in Serie B is tricky, but we have to focus on ourselves and do our job. Our destiny is in our own hands.”
