At the end of the match between Frosinone and Venezia FC, valid for Matchday 23 of Serie BKT and finished with a 1–2 result in favor of the orange-and-black team, head coach Giovanni Stroppa and defender Michael Svoboda analyzed the game as follows.
Giovanni Stroppa, Venezia FC head coach
“In the first half hour we struggled, honestly more because of Frosinone’s strengths than our own shortcomings: they didn’t allow us to play, pressing us on every ball. Then in the final third of the first half we came out of it and created two important chances with Doumbia, while in the second half either team could have scored. We did well to change the momentum; it also went our way because Frosinone is the first team this season that, during a match, had more shots on target than us. I congratulated Alvini because he has a team with energy and ideas, and they are very difficult to face — today I understand why they are in this position. From now until the end of the year we want and will try to win them all: it’s not arrogance, but a necessity, a mindset. If we don’t think that way, it becomes difficult. We must continue to achieve results through our performances. I’m truly pleased to take home such an important victory. We conceded a goal due to a lapse in concentration: in this league, small moments make the difference, but we did well to turn them in our favor. There is a great mentality within the team, and results help build greater awareness. The team deserved a lot even before — the performances were always there when the results weren’t — but we never gave up and we work hard every day. Today is an important win and we want to build on it starting Tuesday against Modena. Up to yesterday, the team has shown steadily growing awareness, and I hold on tightly to that. Coaching this team is a pleasure. I’m happy and satisfied with how the team is developing: we must keep moving forward like this, keeping our heads down.”
Michael Svoboda, Venezia FC defender
"First of all, I have to congratulate Frosinone because they are a really strong team, with a lot of quality up front. We knew they could come and press hard, and in the first half they put us in difficulty with their high pressing. Even after conceding, we stayed patient and calm because we were confident that with our quality we could turn the result around in the second half, which is what happened. This win matters because we faced the second team in the standings, but as always we have to think step by step, continuing to stay focused from match to match. The key to the game was our patience: we did well to react at the right moment and to manage the ball calmly even during the difficult moments of the match.”
