Serie B 22/23: Venezia - Pisa postmatch

September 17, 2022

After a brilliant opening goal from Andrija Novakovich was quickly canceled out, Venezia would ultimately have to settle for a point in a 1-1 draw with 10-man Pisa at Stadio Penzo.

Novakovich and Venezia manager Ivan Javorčić spoke to the press after the match.

Ivan Javorčić:

“We can say that we deserved to win today. We came from a difficult week, with so many defections and problems, and these guys proved their worth despite the condition we were in. The signal given today, as far as I am concerned, was positive.

The team is more than ever represented by its state of mind: today we started very well, kept possession and found the lead, only to concede five minutes later. Emotionally, too, this team is enduring a lot. There is reaction, the choice of the module today definitely gave something for the characteristics of the players we had available. On the field I saw a lot of balance, quality and grit in the right positions. Not winning a game after such a performance weighs, but I am happy with the players.”

Andrija Novakovich:

“Personally, I am very happy with the goal scored today, although we are disappointed with the result. We lacked a bit of luck today, we pushed to the last and we can't complain about the performance. We are a strong team, the quality is not lacking: we need to find more self-confidence to unlock the champiosnhip.”
