Venezia hosted title challengers Milan at Stadio Penzo on Sunday afternoon, and after an early Zlatan Ibrahimović goal, comeback efforts were dashed by a second-half brace from Theo Hernández, as the Rossoneri captured a 0-3 win in Giornata 21 of the 2021/22 Serie A season.
Venezia manager Paolo Zanetti:
“We ran into the problem of an early goal conceded, and this obviously penalized us, as has happened on other occasions. Playing against teams of this caliber is inherently difficult; if you allow them to play the game with a one goal advantage, it becomes even more complicated. Nevertheless, after the first goal, we reacted, creating a good amount of play, which, however, we were not able to transform into the equalizer.
Milan are an undisputed candidate for the Scudetto, and against us they have had a great team attitude, giving us little space, and punishing us on the occasions in which we have made mistakes. It’s a team from which we must surely learn something, and my hope is to continue our journey trying to gain further experience from this match.
From the moment there were down to 10 men the game was almost impossible, but until that moment we managed to create some interesting movements, and not being able to capitalize was mainly due to an excellent opponent.”
