Venezia FC are pleased to announce the permanent transfer of former United States youth international attacking-midfielder Jack de Vries, 20, from the Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer.
After joining Venezia’s Primavera side on loan in August 2021, de Vries would emerge as the team’s top scorer during the 2021/22 Primavera 2 season, scoring 14 goals in 22 league appearances.
On 14 December 2021, de Vries earned his first team debut, coming on for Arnór Sigurðsson in the 80th minute of Venezia’s 3-1 win over Ternana at Stadio Penzo in the Round of 32 of the 2021/22 Coppa Italia.
Born in the United States, de Vries moved to Belgium and spent three years in the academy of Anderlecht before moving back the States and joining the academy of the Union. In August 2019, the Union signed de Vries to an MLS Homegrown Player contract, the 12th in club history. De Vries made his MLS debut in July 2020, and made a total of four appearances in the 2020 MLS season. At international level, de Vries made two appearances for the United States U-17 national team at the 2019 CONCACAF U-17 Championship.
