Pohjanpalo: “The boost of a full stadium can be a big advantage for us”

April 24, 2024

This morning, Joel Pohjanpalo spoke at the press conferenze in VFC headquarter Ca’ Venezia:

"We are having a great season, continuing a path that was already taken last season. On a personal level it is also a very prolific season, hopefully my goals can help the team finish this year in the best possible way. A striker is often evaluated by the number of goals scored, so I can only be happy with my statistics and I think it is my best season so far. I scored quite a few goals last year as well, but this year it was definitely more difficult to repeat because the opponents knew me and were familiar with Venice's way of playing.

First of all, we are happy that we have secured qualification for the Playoffs, it is no secret that come this point of the season, we will try to give everything to reach our dream. It doesn't matter then if we have to go through the Playoffs, in case we will play them and give it our all. We know that Friday's game is very important, against a direct competitor, and we want to put some pressure on the teams in front of us as well. In these last four games the details will make the difference, there is a very thin margin for error and we want to put our best foot forward. I've read that a lot of tickets have been sold so far and that there will be a very warm crowd at the Penzo, I can say that the whole team strongly appreciates the support of the fans at this very important time, it means a lot to us and we know it can be a great advantage to have their push.

I'm very happy to be here, I have a very long contract and my family and I are very comfortable. We are focused exclusively on this final season to succeed all together to give a great satisfaction to the city of Venice. The impact of Mister Vanoli and his staff on this team is there for all to see, we are one of the hardest working teams. We work every day to prepare as best we can for every single game and be the best version of ourselves on the court.“
