Venezia FC is pleased to announce that Italian defender Pietro Ceccaroni has signed a contract extension through the 2025/26 season.
Ceccaroni, 25, has been a model of character and consistency since arriving from Spezia in August 2019. Originally on a season-long loan, Ceccaroni made it a permanent move in August 2020, and he would become one of the key figures in Venezia’s historic 2020/21 season, remarkably playing all 90 minutes in 42 of 43 Serie B regular season and promotion playoff games to help guide the club back to Serie A after a 19-year hiatus.
On the jump to the top flight, Ceccaroni hasn’t skipped a beat. The steady central defender has remained a fixture in Venezia’s lineup, playing all 90 minutes in every match through Giornata 10 of the 2021/22 Serie A season.
Venezia FC president Duncan Niederauer: “Players such as Pietro Ceccaroni perfectly represent our philosophy and our idea of football. This is not only because he fully embraces our project, but above all because he is proud to be a player of Venezia FC. I respect Pietro very much, as a player and as a man, and I’m very happy that he has decided to stay in our family. He is growing not only as a player, but also as a leader.”
Ceccaroni: “I’m very happy for this renewal and tying myself to a club that has given me so much. I have to thank the President first of all, and the coach who gave me the opportunity to show my qualities on the pitch and helped me grow. Next, I thank all my teammates, as I’m the player you see today thanks to them. I’m truly happy to bond with this city and these colors for a long time to come. I’m very pleased to be a point of reference for the guys who have just arrived, and I’m proud to represent, together with the others who have been in this team for some time, the historic core of this club.”
Congratulations, Pietro.
