At the end of Monza-Venezia, Day 9 of the Serie A Enilive 2024/25 championship, which finished with the result of 2-2, Venezia coach Eusebio Di Francesco and Mikael Egill Ellertsson analyzed the match as follows.
Eusebio Di Francesco:
"Today we made some good plays, even though we were a bit naive in conceding the two goals. The idea that the team needs to absorb is to maintain ball possession: this not only allows us to create opportunities but also keeps the opponents away from our goal. Sometimes, keeping control of the ball is more effective than defending directly.
Individually, we've grown, but what matters is the evolution of our game and our movement. However, we need to work on reducing certain concentration errors in some phases of the match.
In the second half, we had several chances that we could have taken advantage of better, especially towards the end, when we needed to be more patient in our search for the goal and clearer-headed, focusing on quick passes to overcome Monza's compactness.
Returning to Venice with a positive result is certainly a positive aspect, even though there is regret about not having been able to consolidate the lead we gained twice."
Mikael Egill Ellertsson:
"I’m really happy for my first goal in Serie A; it was an incredible feeling, even though I would have liked to celebrate a win. We still played a good game, although we need to pay more attention in certain situations and improve our finishing in front of goal.
Now it will be important to keep up this pace and immediately focus on the next match against Udinese to get a good result."
