Marin Šverko joins Venezia FC

Venezia FC announce the signing of Croatian defender Marin Šverko, 24, on loan from Eredivisie club FC Groningen for the remainder of the season.

Šverko's career began in the youth ranks of Karlsruher, where he stayed until 2017, before moving to FSV Mainz II, making 39 appearances, one goal and one assist between the German third division and Regionalliga Südwest.

After a series of loan spells in the German leagues, the young defender was noticed by FC Groningen, which bought him outright in 2021. With the Dutch club, Šverko racked up 28 appearances in the Eredivisie.

Internationally, Šverko has been called up to the Croatian youth national teams multiple times, collecting 28 appearances and one goal from Under-17 to Under-21.
