Ivan Javorčić named Venezia FC first team manager

June 9, 2022

Venezia FC are pleased to announce Ivan Javorčić as first team manager. Javorčić, 43, has signed a three-year contract through the 2024/25 season.

In 2021/22, Javorčić led Südtirol to their first-ever promotion to Serie B in his first season with the club, finishing top of the table in Serie C Girone A with 27 wins, nine draws, two losses, and a remarkable nine goals conceded in 38 matches — the best defensive record of any team in a professional league in Europe last season.

Born in Split, Croatia, Javorčić was a Croatia youth international who came through the academy of RNK Split and began his professional playing career at Brescia, turning out for the club in Serie A and Serie B between 1997 and 2000, and, after hanging up his boots at the age of 30 due to injuries, he would begin his managerial career by returning to Brescia, joining the club’s youth sector in 2009.

Javorčić spent five-and-a-half years with the Berretti and Primavera teams, and was given the opportunity to lead Brescia’s first team as caretaker manager in December 2014, earning two wins and a draw in four Serie B matches.

Javorčić would leave Brescia the following season to become a first team manager with Mantova in October 2015, and he would later take charge at Pro Patria in April 2017, guiding the club to promotion from Serie D to Serie C in his first full season and finishing as high as fifth in Serie C Girone A over the next three seasons, before leaving for Südtirol in June 2021.

Venezia FC president Duncan Niederauer:
