Francesco Zampano joins Venezia FC

Venezia FC are pleased to announce the signing of right-back Francesco Zampano, 28, to a three-year contract that will commence upon the expiration of his contract with Serie B club Frosinone on 1 July 2022.

Zampano, a hard-charging player, predominantly playing at right-back but with the versatility to be deployed up on either flank in the backline or in midfield, has consistently performed at a high level through his career and brings a wealth of experience in Italy's top two divisions, having made 67 Serie A appearances with 10 assists and 198 Serie B appearances with seven goals and 24 assists in his career.

Born in Genoa, Zampano passed through the youth academy at Sampdoria, and eventually began his professional career at Virtus Entella in Serie C, before being acquired by Verona and loaned out to Juve Stabia and Pescara in Serie B.

Pescara would acquire him on a permanent transfer in 2015, and Zampano would help the club earn promotion to Serie A through the Serie B playoffs in the 2015/16 season. Though Pescara would last just one season in Serie A before being relegated back to Serie B, Zampano impressed enough to earn loans back to Serie A with Udinese in 2017/18 and Frosinone in 2018/19, after which point Frosinone made the move permanent.

Since Frosinone’s relegation, Zampano has made 87 appearances for the club in Serie B over the last three seasons.
