At the end of the Como-Venezia FC match, valid for Matchday 28 of the 2024/25 Serie A Enilive season, which ended in a 1-1 draw, the arancioneroverde coach Eusebio Di Francesco and forward Christian Gytkjaer analyzed the game as follows.
Eusebio Di Francesco
"Today's match was very balanced and open to any result.
In the first half, especially in the last 20 minutes, we created numerous chances to take the lead, but their goalkeeper made some decisive saves. For large portions of the game, we had control of play, but we lacked the composure needed to capitalize on the opportunities we created.
Our problem is not building up play, but finishing. We scored again from a penalty, even though we had several chances from open play where we were still missing that bit of ruthlessness in front of goal.
The team fought until the very last second, earning the draw thanks to the determination of a group that always believes. In recent games, the team has consistently shown that it stays in the match, and today we were rewarded for that attitude.
Gytkjaer converted the penalty with great experience and composure. I knew I could count on him—he always trains with great commitment and professionalism, and today he made the most of his opportunity. Substitutions can influence the course of a match, and today we had confirmation of that: we were rewarded for our style of play and our desire to get a positive result.
Idzes is a player with character and depth, the true glue of the team a fundamental quality for a captain. He took on this responsibility with pride, representing Venezia in the best way and managing to inspire his teammates."
Christian Gytkjær
"I felt calm when taking the penalty because I felt the trust of my teammates. In that moment, I only thought about striking with great determination, and I managed to score at the end of a tough match. In the first half, we had great chances to take the lead, but their goalkeeper was truly outstanding. In the second half, we responded well after conceding, never giving up and pushing forward until the very end in search of a goal.
This draw gives us a lot of confidence, especially because we are maintaining consistency in performances and results. Every point is important for us, but now we want to get back to winning so we can achieve our final goal."
