We know this season has been difficult, and we share in your disappointment and frustration. Our love for this team runs deep, just like yours.
Our goal remains clear: to be a top tier club in Serie A, and we believe the actions taken by Filippo Antonelli and Cristian Molinaro the past month put us in a better position to achieve that this season and into the future.
We've brought in talented players like Conde, Zerbin, Cande, Marcandalli and Perez to strengthen our first team and provide the depth that our coaching staff prioritized.
With a roster of over 30 players, we needed to make room for these new additions by moving some players out.
One player that we did not expect to move was Joel Pohjanpalo. As a club, we have tremendous appreciation for all he has done for Venezia FC both on and off the pitch. We had no intention of selling him, nor did we offer him to any clubs. However, unsolicited, Joel received a very strong offer from Palermo, which was very difficult for him to decline.
Joel’s departure created an opportunity for Filippo to acquire both Daniel Fila and Mirko Maric who are two strikers that complement our team's playing style.
As we currently sit in 19th place, these changes along with others made in January, give us the best chance to secure our place in Serie A and set the club up for long-term success.
We also received the challenging news that Filip Stankovic will miss an extended period of time. This is hard news but we believe that our signing of Ionut Radu to partner with Jesse Joronen can help the team until Filip returns.
The January transfer window is always a challenging market, but these efforts are aimed at giving our team the best possible chance for success this season and beyond.
We are immensely proud of our coaches and players. This team has shown they can compete in every match. If this fighting spirit continues, and with the support of the VFC community behind us, we believe positive results will follow.
Forza Venezia!
