Venezia FC announces that it has reached an agreement with Wolfsburg for the temporary acquisition of Croatian player Bartol Franjic until the end of the season, with an obligation to buy upon the fulfillment of certain conditions.
A product of the Dinamo Zagreb youth academy, the 2000-born defender rose through the ranks of his hometown club, eventually establishing himself in the first team. Between 2019 and 2022, he made 82 appearances across the Croatian league, UEFA Champions League qualifiers, and the Europa League, scoring 1 goal and providing 5 assists.
In the summer of 2022, he was signed permanently by Wolfsburg, where he featured in 6 matches across the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal, recording one assist. The following season, he remained in the Bundesliga on loan at Darmstadt, making 20 appearances and registering another assist.
Last season, Franjić began the campaign with Shakhtar Donetsk, scoring one goal in 8 appearances, before returning to Dinamo Zagreb in January, where he went on to play 16 more matches and added one assist.
At international level, Franjić has earned 43 caps and scored 3 goals with Croatia’s youth national teams.
Bartol Franjic
"I’m really happy to be here in Venice because I believe there’s an important project both for me and for the team. Being an arancioneroverde player represents a huge opportunity for me. I want to tell the fans that we will give our all, on and off the pitch, to honor Venice in the best possible way, and I hope they will support us throughout the entire season."
Welcome to Venezia FC, Bartol!
