On Saturday, March 23 the Venezia FC U17 team, accompanied by a delegation from the club and coach Jordi Fernandez, performed the participatory performance THIS IS NOT A DRILL by indigenous Pacific artist Latai Taumoepeau. The performance, choreographed by the artist, enlivened Ocean Space on the first day of the public opening of the Re-Stor(y)ing Oceania exhibition, curated by Taloi Havini and commissioned by TBA21-Academy and Artspace, Sydney, and produced in collaboration with OGR Turin.
Re-Stor(y)ing Oceania invites the audience to connect with the voices of the artists(y)ing communities that inhabit and operate in the vast and diverse region of islands and atolls in the Southern Hemisphere, one of the regions most affected by the ominous effects of climate change.
The activation of the performance represents the renewed collaboration between and TBA21-Academy and Venezia FC, which continues to support Ocean Space's public program, which has always aimed to disseminate local ecological knowledge through cultural programming that can raise public awareness of environmental issues and support regenerative lifestyles.
This year, Ocean Space's public program will focus particularly on the concept of hospitality, offering participatory activities aimed at different audiences in Venice and giving space to the local community.
Venezia FC, through collaborations such as the one put in place with Ocean Space, wants to emphasize how it considers central to its project the goal of promoting social responsibility within its community, including through the promotion of the preservation of the natural environment.
