At the end of the match between Spezia and Venezia FC, valid for matchday 37 of Serie BKT and ending in a 2–2 draw, head coach Giovanni Stroppa and captain Michael Svoboda shared their thoughts on the game.
Giovanni Stroppa, Venezia FC head coach:
“It’s been an incredible journey, starting from the very first day I arrived in Venice. The first thanks I feel I must give is to Sporting Director Filippo Antonelli, who managed to bring the environment back together and create an enthusiasm never seen after a relegation. Antonelli made my job incredibly easy; from day one I realized that the players were highly motivated and eager to be coached by me. A connection was immediately created, a relationship that has brought us to where we are today. I extend my thanks to all the shareholders and the club’s owners—we have a training center that allows us to work at our best. I thank the entire ‘invisible team’ that keeps the club running: the offices, the kit managers, the staff. When you reach these goals, they must be shared with everyone. Above all, thanks to our fans—seeing a full stadium that is always involved has definitely made the difference.”
Michael Svoboda, Venezia FC captain:
“There is great pride in this promotion: we truly did many things the right way. Since pre-season, we knew we had something special, and now we’ve managed to achieve this dream. We had an incredible staff who always prepared us in the best way, and that showed throughout the entire season. The draw came because we weren’t ready on second balls and we conceded something in duels. We didn’t know what was happening on the other pitches, but when the fans started singing, I understood that we were close to our goal. Having fans like this is something special: in every match they stood by us and pushed us to achieve this promotion. Now I want to enjoy the celebration, but also finish the season in first place and win the league—that’s our objective, then we can celebrate.”
