Tessmann: “I have found my abilities in midfield”

Ahead of Sunday night’s match with Genoa at Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo in Giornata 1 of the 2022/23 Serie B season, Venezia midfielder Tanner Tessmann spoke with the local press.

“I have found my abilities in midfield. In the past, I've played both high on the left flank and centrally as a playmaker. In the [Coppa Italia] match against Ascoli on Sunday, I experimented again with this second position. Despite having a natural disposition towards a role on the left, I liked having the opportunity to run with the ball and build the play for my teammates.

I’m in my second season with Venezia. Serie A is a league that forces you to grow a lot, having to compete with teams of a very high caliber. I want to put all the experience I’ve gained into practice to help us compete at the highest level in Serie B right away.

We’re excited to face Genoa on Sunday. It almost feels like an extension of Serie A. This kind of match is also a great opportunity to make a statement to our fans: we want to win for them.

I’m getting along very well with the new manager. We all appreciate his intelligence and perseverance. He can be strict, but he respects us and tries to make sure we are all happy with our roles.”
