SERIE C FEM. 24/25: ACCADEMIA S.P.A.L.-VENEZIA FC 2-1

Away defeat for the Leonesse, who fight until the very end in search of an equalizer despite being down to ten players, but ultimately fail to overcome Accademia S.P.A.L.

On a pitch at the limit of playability, Venezia FC creates the first real scoring opportunity just ten minutes after kickoff and makes the most of it, taking the lead. Cortesi takes a free kick that strikes the crossbar, and on the rebound, Borsato is the quickest to react, pouncing on the ball and slotting it into the net: 0-1.
Boosted by their advantage, the visitors come close to doubling their lead four minutes later with Zuanti, who breaks into the box but lacks precision in her shot, sending the ball just wide.
S.P.A.L.'s response is immediate. Just a minute later, Antolini creates danger but is denied by an excellent save from Barbierato. It is the prelude to the equalizer, which arrives in the 16th minute through the same biancazzurre forward, who finds the net with a precise shot from the edge of the box into the far post: 1-1.

Toward the end of the first half, both teams come close to taking the lead: Venezia with a powerful shot from Zuanti that grazes the crossbar, and SPAL with Hassanaime, whose effort goes just wide.
The second half starts with a shock for the Leonesse, as they concede the go-ahead goal in the 47th minute. A foul on Doneda inside the penalty area goes unnoticed, the ball reaches number 10, Ballo, who manages to score with a scrappy finish, putting Accademia S.P.A.L. ahead (2-1).
Berta Prat Hernandez’s team immediately tries to react and creates danger with a shot from Cortesi and an effort from Zannini, but both lack accuracy.

In the 86th minute, the match becomes even more difficult for Venezia: Barbierato is sent off for a last-man foul, leaving her team with ten players. The resulting free kick for S.P.A.L. does not change the score, but the home side successfully defends their lead until the final whistle.
Despite their last desperate attempts, the Leonesse fail to find the equalizer, and the match ends 2-1 in favor of the biancazzurre.
