SERIE C FEM 22/23: VENEZIA 2-1 RINASCITA DOCCIA

Venezia FC close out their league campaign with a comeback victory at Centro Sportivo Taliercio, as they beat Rinascita Doccia 2-1 in Giornata 30 of the 2022/23 Serie C Femminile season.

After falling behind in the 8th minute to a defensive slip up, the hosts quickly looked to get back on level terms, with Alice Zuanti and Beatrice Airola both having chances at goal. As they fought to carve through the visitors’ defense, Venezia would finally snatch their equalizer in the 36th minute, when Zuanti launched a dangerous ball to Elena Govetto, who bent a shot into the far corner to bring her side level.

In the second half, Venezia maintained control of possession but struggled in threatening the opposition, as fatigue, intensified by heat, started to set in. Chirine Lamti, Isabel Cacciamali and Chiara Barro could not convert their chances, forcing the opponents’ ‘keeper into difficult saves to prevent the deficit.

However, Venezia would take the lead just one minute from time, with Alice Zuanti turning provider once again by setting up Karin Mantoani for a powerful finish into the far post.

In stoppage time, Alice Pinal stepped up with a massive save to secure the three points and allow Venezia to conclude their season with a win at home, thus confirming their fifth place in the standings.

Venezia FC Femminile will now prepare for one last important challenge, the Coppa Italia Serie C final, scheduled for June 11 at Stadio Bozzi, Florence.
