Venezia FC Femminile opened the new season with a victory on Sunday afternoon, defeating Triestina on a lone goal by Filomena Tuia at Venezia FC’s Centro Sportivo Taliercio in Giornata 1 of the 2022/23 Serie C Femminile season.

Venezia were dominant in the first half, but could not break through. In the 16th minute, defender Martina Piazza threatened with a header. In the 29th minute, striker Elena Govetto was set up by Giorgia Terzoni but pulled her shot wide. Govetto would have another chance just a few minutes later, but her shot was straight at the ‘keeper. In the 34th minute, Piazza again went for goal, this time sending her shot wide of the target.

In the second half, Venezia continued to pressure, until finally Tuia made the breakthrough, taking a pass from Isabel Cacciamali and hitting the back of the net in the 56th minute.

After the goal, Venezia did not sit back. Cacciamali and Alice Zuanti both had shots denied, before Martina Sclavo hit the post on a shot from distance.

In the closing minutes of the match, Triestina made a push for a late equalizer and Venezia struggled under the pressure. Piazza was shown a red card late, and Triestina would have their final chance on a free-kick from the edge of the area, but the shot deflected off the wall, and Venezia would take all three points.
