Serie C Fem 21/22: VFC Venezia Calcio 0–2 Venezia

December 12, 2021

Venezia FC Femminile ran out to their seventh consecutive victory in Giornata 10 of the 2021/22 Serie C Femminile season, winning away to local rivals VFC Venezia Calcio, 0-2, and thus keeping pace with league leaders Vicenza, remaining one point off the top of the table.

The hosts would look to threaten through Elisa Dalla Santa, but the striker was well marked by defenders Francesca Carleschi and Chelsea Weston, with ‘keeper Alice Pinel making saves when called upon, and the first half would end scoreless.

In the second half, Dalla Santa would continue to pose problems, but Venezia would gradually gain control of the match, and they would finally break the deadlock in the 73rd minute. From a Vanessa Stefanello corner kick, Isabel Cacciamali controlled and set up Anna Stankovic, who turned and fired into the back of the net.

After absorbing pressure for an equalizer, Venezia would put the game away in the 88th minute, when Karin Mantoni collected from a throw in and finished.

Buoyed by a performance of heart and character, Venezia will look to extend their winning streak further when they host Bologna in Giornata 11.
