On matchday 24 of the Women’s Serie B, Venezia FC’s “Leonesse” suffered a defeat after a brave and intense performance, but paid dearly for a few defensive mistakes. After Willis gave Venezia the lead in the first half, Frosinone turned the game around in the second half through goals from De Matteis, Buono, and Maier.

Oliveira’s Venezia had to be alert as early as the 6th minute when Naydenova’s free kick from the edge of the box was deflected for a corner by Pucova. The orange-black-greens responded in the 18th minute with a quick one-two between Ballo and Willis, ending in a shot saved by the goalkeeper. In the 24th minute, Zuanti tried from distance, but the defense blocked it. The deserved lead came in the 30th minute: a wide free kick taken by Cortesi found Willis, who rose perfectly to head home for 1–0. Venezia kept pushing: in the 34th minute, Gismann tried from outside the box, forcing a save, while in the 39th minute Duarte nearly doubled the lead from a corner, with Frosinone clearing off the line. Towards the end of the first half, Venezia remained on the attack but couldn’t find the second goal.

The second half opened again with an attacking Venezia: Zuanti immediately won a corner and, shortly after, a valuable indirect free kick inside the box was awarded for a back pass to the goalkeeper, but Mounecif’s shot was cleared off the line. Missed chances proved costly, and in the 63rd minute Frosinone equalized through De Matteis, capitalizing on poor ball management by the hosts. The visitors gained confidence and in the 71st minute completed the comeback with Buono, who made a central run and beat Pucova. Venezia tried to respond with long-range efforts from Zuanti and Doneda, and a good individual move by Furlanis, but without success. In stoppage time, Frosinone scored their third: in the 93rd minute Maier sealed the result on the counterattack. Late on, Venezia had a chance to pull one back with a penalty, but Furlanis’ shot hit the crossbar.
