Filippo Mozzo: “Playing for your city’s team is a priceless feeling”

March 7, 2023

Coming from the youth ranks of Venezia FC, midfielder Filippo Mozzo moves up to the Primavera side in July 2021. Born in 2004 and a Venetian, Mozzo offers a unique perspective on his team, his city and his colours.

"I was born in Mestre and moved to Venice, on the island, eleven years ago now: I can say that I have somewhat experienced the two souls of this city. With this team I did the whole youth academy years, I moved to Primavera in 2021, and last season I also had the honor of being called up with the First Team in Serie A, in the away match against Inter. To wear this jersey is a unique and indescribable emotion for me, I have such an attachment to these colors that I would never want to leave them.

The transition from youth to Primavera was difficult at first, but we found the right balance also thanks to coach Soncin, who is dedicated body and soul to soccer and to his team, with a rare attention to detail. We are a close-knit group that has learned to make its multiculturalism a strength. On and off the field, I have realized that I have improved, on a personal level, to relate to perspectives different from my own: for this I can only thank my teammates, who have become like brothers to me. We like to meet and team up even away from the locker room, and this is a great privilege: sometimes, when you are young, you tend to be overpowering toward your teammates in the hope of standing out. In our Primavera locker room, this has never happened.”
