"We started well by creating a great chance that was then saved on the goal line, from there perhaps we thought things would be easy in this match. The return leg is a different league, today's is a lesson we will need. We have to be good at putting our heads down and working with humility as we have always done. We certainly have not sinned in presumption however we are taking so many goals in recent months and a team fighting for the top positions cannot afford it, we must be incisive in both phases. We lacked the concentration and the will to try to reopen the game which was in my opinion within the capabilities of a squad like ours. I give kudos to the opponents who competed very well and to their coach. A team that wants to be ambitious must always try to win, today the opponents were better who had courage and were rewarded. Definitely sorry for our fans.“

"We did not defend well today, the opponents took better advantage of opportunities and punished us. We have to improve in containment in general, starting with the offense through the midfield and defense, it has to be a work of the whole team. We also had several chances today but we didn't take advantage of all of them like our opponents did.
Happy to have scored, I always want to help the team but in the end it was not enough and we definitely need to work again and improve. In the return leg there is more intensity in games against opponents who are playing for promotion or salvation. We need to forget what we have done so far and focus on the next games. Against Ternana I also hope to see a full stadium because the fans since I arrived here in Venice have been fantastic, even today they had to make a long journey to support us. Their support is crucial for us.“
