Beatrice Airola: “Venezia has so much to give to women’s football”

June 1, 2023

Arriving from the ranks of Sassari Torres Femminile, engaged in Serie B, defender Beatrice Airola joins Venezia for the 22/23 season. The player, born in 2001, draws the balance of her first year in the lagoon.

“Since my arrival in Venice I have been very comfortable, both in the locker room and at the corporate level. The great value of the club is shown in the attention always given to the Women's project, which allows us to always breathe a tranquil air and take care only of our preparation. At the beginning of the year, the group had to find its chemistry: we were mostly new girls with different backgrounds, but now we have gotten to know each other and we care about each other, we are all rowing in the same direction, and this brings us results. The transition from Serie B to Serie C, for me, has been interesting, but less difficult than expected: paradoxically, I think Venice could give more in the higher category, where the game is more technical. In Serie C we focus more on physicality, which is not among our strengths, but all the teams really manage to put on a show in both divisions.

I started playing very early, at the age of six, despite my parents' obstructions, and then I was chosen in the Piedmont U14 representative team, where I was noticed by Cuneo Femminile. From there, Juventus acquired the team's sporting title, and I went through their youth academy. The great thing about growing up, football-wise, in clubs of this prestige is always being treated like a professional, at all levels and at all ages: it is a characteristic that I found again here in Venice. Even if the championship goal did not bear the hoped-for fruit this season, we will give our all in theCoppa Italia final, putting the best of our game on the field: we want to prove our worth.”
