Alvin Okoro: “The team can do great things this year”

February 21, 2023

Born in 2005, Alvin Okoro joined Venezia FC Primavera in the summer of 2022 and immediately proved crucial in coach Soncin's line-up. The Vicenza forward, who already distinguished himself last season with 13 goals in 23 appearances for Pordenone Under-17, has already racked up five goals and one assist in his 17 appearances with the Primavera team.

"My father passed on to me a tremendous passion for soccer. I started hanging out on the pitch from an early age, in my hometown team, and then moved first to Udinese and then to Pordenone, with which I made my Serie B debut at the age of 17 years and 23 days. I remember that moment with extreme precision, as if it were yesterday, because at that very moment I understood that I could fulfill my childhood dreams.

I am very happy to have come here to Venice, where I have found fantastic teammates and a coach whom I greatly respect. As a striker, although I am a natural winger, coach Soncin decided to employ me as a centreforward, and I would say that this choice is paying off. With the rest of my teammates I have a good relationship, made up of unity and friendship, fostered by all living together. I like the idea of being able to learn a lot from them, encouraging me to approach different languages and cultures. When we are not thinking about the game or studying, we organize long sessions in front of our consoles, playing video games.

I feel I can draw a positive balance of the season so far, and I believe the team has the potential to aim for the play-offs in this league. At Venezia, I also truly appreciate the co-mingling between Primavera and First Team: we feel the 'seniors' very close and we often have the opportunity to learn from them in training.”
